Museum am Kastenturm

The "Museum am Kastenturm" with its new focal point - MONTANARCHÄOLOGIE - was founded in November 1998, and is located in the heart of our historical town center. The exhibition rooms are located in a section of the Kastenhof, the back side of which is abutted by the medieval Kastenturm.

The Museum Society has made it its mission to present the 5,000-year-old history of the settlement area around Bischofshofen, by means of objects that have been preserved. Archaeological finds from Götschenberg, Sinnhubschlössl and next to "Arthurstollen" are presentet in the new exhibition from Robert Pils.

The second focal point of the museum is sacred art:
Aside from the famous Cross of St. Rupert, visitors can gaze upon an "Ablasstafel" from 1445 as well as objects from the church treasures and original documents.
